Green and Reliable became one of the first companies in the UK to convert our work vehicle into a vegetarian van using a new form of fuel. This type of fuel is also considered to be better than other vegetable oil-based substitutes and we want to share our secret with you so you can lower your carbon footprint too!
So, how did we change the type of fuel we use?
We have switched from diesel to environmentally friendly recycled vegetable oil, lowering our carbon footprint as we travel across Wetherby, York, Harrogate and the surrounding areas.
Our Secret: Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil
Here at Green and Reliable, we use hydrotreated vegetable oil, also known as HVO. HVO is a sustainable diesel fuel made from waste oils, such as cooking oil, collected from restaurants and household kitchens. HVO can be used to replace traditional fossil fuels and it is known to also help to improve air quality.
You will also be glad to know that Ford now approves the use of HVO to be used in their transit vans, allowing drivers a renewable fuel option. The greatest advantage of vehicles that use this type of fuel is that they can be refilled with conventional diesel fuel. This makes it easier for drivers as HVO is very hard to get hold of and buy in bulk.
This is what sets us apart from everyone else and we were also featured on YorkMix, where we discuss the costs of HVO and the impact it has had on us or if you would like to speak to us, get in touch by viewing our contact details down below.
